Have You Met Our New Staff Members?

After several months, we feel it is time to finally introduce our two new Dental Hygienists!

Kellye Tenpenny

Kellye is our newest full-time dental hygienist.  She graduated from Western Kentucky in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science.  She is Certified in Local Anesthesia, Nitrous, and CPR.  Previously, Kelley worked the last 8 years in Belle Meade.  She is excited about her upcoming wedding in June to the love of her life.  In her spare time, she enjoys being outside on the lake or playing with her dogs.

Beth George

Beth is no stranger to our office, but we now get to claim her as  offically, “one-of-us” since she is now working Part-Time on Wednesdays.  Beth graduated from Roane State Community College in 2006 with an A.A.S. in Dental Hygiene.  She has been working in dental hygiene for the past 11 years.  Beth and her husband work in youth ministry at their church in Westmoreland, TN.

We are excited about these new additions to our staff and feel you will love them both!

How to Pack Shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child

How to pack a Shoebox:

Operation Christmas Child

  1. Use an empty cardboard or plastic shoebox (average size). You can wrap the box, lid separately, but wrapping is not required.  The plastic bins found at Wal-Mart or Dollar Tree work great!  (Hobby Lobby is another great place to pick up supplies since they have items clearly marked that are great for your shoeboxes.)
  2. Decide whether your gift will be for a boy or a girl, and the age category: 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14. Download and print the appropriate boy/girl label. Mark the correct age category and tape the label to the top of your box. (You can also pick up labels from our office!)
  3. Fill the box with a variety of gifts that will bring delight to a child (see Gift Suggestions below).
  4. Include $7 Donation Per Box
Help cover shipping and other costs related to delivering your shoeboxes to children overseas by donating $7 for each gift you prepare. You can give online to discover the destination of your box. Or, you can write a check to Samaritan’s Purse (note “OCC” on the memo line) and place it in an envelope on top of the items inside your shoebox. If you are preparing multiple gifts, please make one combined donation. Note: Follow Your Box is only available through online giving.
  5. Pray. Ask God to use your gifts to show His love to the child who will receive your shoebox.
  6. Drop Off your shoeboxes at our office by November 17, 2016.

Gift Suggestions for your Operation Christmas Child Shoebox:

Our Loss is Heaven’s Sweet Gain

linda

Ms. Linda Cox filled our office with smiles and laughter for over 30 years.  Ms. Linda, as many of her patients so fondly referred to her, loved her career as a dental hygienist.  She genuinely cared for her patients and put them first many times when working did not come easy.  She truly had a special gift with her patients.  She enjoyed learning about each and remembered their children’s names and previous conversations from prior visits.  With her fiery red hair and warm smile, Linda could open that door to call you back for your cleaning and make you forget you were even at the dental office.  Many of her patients said it was like spending time with a good friend.

Growing up, she cherished time with her grandmother, spending many hours baking together.  Linda’s baking skills were admired by all who had the opportunity to taste her culinary treats!  On the beautiful days, it was hard for Linda to look out the window at work and not think about a game of golf with her friends at the Gallatin County Club.  She also enjoyed spending time with her many friends from high school.  She had a joy for life that made you want to smile just being around her.

Cancer is a horrible disease.

Over 15 years ago, Linda fought her battle with melanoma and won with no question!  She came out stronger and more determined.  This summer, Linda had what she thought was pneumonia.  The first of July she went to the doctor and requested a chest x-ray.  This is when a mass was found in her lung.  More waiting and tests discovered Linda had stage 4 melanoma lung cancer.

Gradually, it became difficult for our sweet Linda to talk and breathe, but she was still determined to beat this cancer, too.

A mere two weeks after her cancer diagnosis, Ms. Linda finished her battle with cancer and found perfect peace and rest in the arms of Jesus.  She had every intention of telling her friends and patients her cancer had returned once she had a treatment plan in place from her oncologist the next week.  But the Lord had other plans.

A month later, it still does not seem real.  It has been difficult for our staff to truly grasp this sudden loss of our precious friend and co-worker.  We wish to publicly thank everyone who has called and brought cards and gifts to the office.  You have lost a dear friend as well, and together we are all thankful for the gift of her friendship.
